OSAKA -- Osaka Prefectural Police inspected the Hollywood movie theme park Universal Studios Japan on Wednesday over the possible excessive use of explosives.

USJ apparently reported Tuesday that it might have used more explosives than its authorized quantity since its operations began, police said.

According to investigations, USJ uses explosives for four of its attractions, including Hollywood Magic.

Based on Osaka's fire prevention ordinance limiting the quantity and method of use of explosives, approximately 24 kg of explosives are permitted for the Hollywood Magic attraction, the police said.

The inspection was conducted to assess the amount of explosives used and to see if excessive amounts are stored in four storage cabinets at the attractions, each allowed to hold no more than 25 kg of explosives.
