Tokyo Gov. Shintaro Ishihara on Friday threatened to withdraw the financial support of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for Metropolitan Expressway Public Corp. if the entity decides against building expressway links sought by the capital.
He issued the threat to a government panel examining the privatization of four public expressway corporations.
The governor said that the metropolitan government may sever its capital ties with the entity if routes such as the planned Shinagawa Line of the Metropolitan Expressway are not built in the process of the public corporations' privatization.
