Bank of Japan Gov. Masaru Hayami said Wednesday that declines in U.S. share prices and the appreciation of the yen could hamper Japan's tentative recovery.
"The (Japanese) economy has gained some strength," Hayami said. "But that doesn't mean the likelihood of a future economic recovery has increased."
He said uncertainty stems from the recent falls in U.S. share prices and the depreciation of the dollar.
