Japan and Mexico should begin formal negotiations as soon as possible on concluding a comprehensive pact aimed at shoring up a bilateral economic partnership, including a free-trade agreement.

A joint panel of government and private-sector experts studying the feasibility of an FTA and other measures to strengthen bilateral economic relations will hold their seventh, and final, talks in Mexico City for two days starting on Wednesday.
