A knife-wielding man was arrested Tuesday 10 minutes after he allegedly threatened employees of Fuji Television Network Inc. at the broadcaster's headquarters in Minato Ward, Tokyo, according to police.
The 33-year-old man reportedly threatened a female receptionist and a security guard with the weapon at the TV station's reception desk at around 12:20 p.m.
He then sat in the lobby for about 10 minutes before being subdued by police officers who had rushed to the scene, investigators said.
The man was quoted by police as saying his actions were provoked by a Fuji Television show in which he was insulted.
The man's identity has been withheld as the police are not sure whether he can be held criminally responsible for the incident.
