The Japanese market for information-technology related services will grow an annual 7.4 percent and reach 7.93 trillion yen in 2006, a private market-research firm said Monday.
According to estimates by Tokyo-based International Data Corp. Japan, the IT services market stood at roughly 5.55 trillion yen in 2001, rising 5.2 percent from the previous year.
Despite the collapse of the IT bubble, the research firm said it expects the market to grow thanks to ongoing plans by the government to make public services more electronic as well as the continuing integration of financial firms, which requires the integration of their computer systems.
It said high growth can be expected in businesses that undertake computer system operation and management services that firms are increasingly outsourcing.
According to International Data, IT services include system creation, development and maintenance of application software and designing and creation of networks. , operation and management of computer systems, and calculation of wages.
