Masao Kamei, former chairman of Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd., died of pneumonia Sunday at a Tokyo hospital. He was 86.
Kamei played a key role as a government adviser in privatizing the Japanese National Railways. He also wielded strong influence as chairman of a subcommittee of the government's ad hoc committee on administrative reform in the mid-1980s.
