Nissho Iwai Logistics Corp. said Monday it has reached a tieup agreement with the Japan unit of Britain's largest distribution firm, Excel PLC.
The tieup between Nissho Iwai Logistics, a group firm of major trading house Nissho Iwai Corp., and Excel Japan Ltd. in Tokyo will give Nissho Iwai Logistics access to Excel's network of 1,300 bases in 120 countries, it said.
In turn, it will allow Excel to strengthen its foothold in the Asia-Pacific market, where its share has been relatively low, it said.
In the Japanese market, the two companies will expand cooperation in developing new business opportunities and integrate distribution and customs services at some of their operation bases, with an eye to a capital tieup in the future, it said.
