Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co. and Mitsui & Co. said Monday they have obtained an order to build a plant designed to liquefy and store petroleum gas for U.S. oil firm ChevronTexaco Corp.
The plant is expected to operate at sea, and will liquefy petroleum gas drilled from an offshore field in western Africa, the two firms said.
It will be the first floating production facility for liquefied petroleum gas, they added.
The plant will be built at Ishikawajima-Harima's Kure factory in Hiroshima Prefecture. It is expected to be completed by July 2004.
