A 28-year-old man from the Chinese coastal province of Fujian was served a fresh arrest warrant Monday over the theft of 14 million yen from a packaging factory in Tokyo and an attack on the factory manager, police said.
Chen Siqing is suspected of attacking the 62-year-old manager with a wooden baseball bat Feb. 25 and stealing some 14 million yen in salaries earmarked for about 70 employees of the Koto Ward plant, according to police.
Chen had been arrested Feb. 26 on suspicion of violating immigration legislation. Upon his arrest, police discovered he was holding some 12 million yen in cash.
Investigators also obtained an arrest warrant for a 46-year-old Chinese man who used to work at the factory. Police suspect he aided Chen in the factory raid.
