The general manager of the Japanese office of Air France said Wednesday that the airline may resume its flights from Nagoya in 2005, the year in which a new international airport is scheduled to open and a world exposition will be held in Aichi Prefecture.

Air France suspended its flights from Nagoya three years ago.

Bernard Anquez told a news conference the move is under consideration, although he added that concentrating resources is one of the firm's key efficiency strategies.

He said Air France will continue to regard Narita airport and Kansai International Airport as the main focus of its operations in Japan.

During the news conference, Anquez also disclosed the firm's summer flight schedule, starting in April. He announced that Air France will provide one additional night flight from Narita to Paris, with a new runway set to open in Narita on April 18.

The additional flight will allow Air France to operate two daily B747-400 flights -- one in the daytime and the other at night -- from Narita to Paris.
