The government on Thursday launched a mobile-phone version of its Internet service posting nationwide job offers.
The new version, run by the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry, is aimed at providing wider access to its Job-net service, as the jobless rate remains at record-high levels.
The ministry linked Job-net with the EZweb mobile Internet service operated by KDDI Corp. and its related concerns, and plans to expand it to J-Phone Co.'s J-Sky next Wednesday and NTT DoCoMo Inc.'s i-mode on March 18.
Job-net has information on more than 400,000 job offers nationwide provided by various entities, public job-placement offices, chambers of commerce and industry, private job agencies and other entities.
In January, the number of hits reached about 6.35 million, for a daily average of 200,000. The service is free, but phone charges apply.
