Internet portal Yahoo Japan Corp. said Friday it will introduce new fees for its online auction service starting April 15.
Currently, users pay a monthly fee of 280 yen for the service.
Beginning April 15, users will be have to pay an additional 10 yen per item and 500 yen if they cancel auctions after bids are submitted, the company said in a news release.
Starting May 15, users will also have to pay 3 percent of the closing bid price for each auction, Yahoo said.
For automobiles, motorbikes and real estate, users will have to pay 500 yen per item and a flat fee of 3,000 yen when the tender is successfully accepted. No fees are charged for those who submit bids.
The number of Yahoo auction site users stood at 1.58 million at the end of February, with the number of items totaling 4.04 million.
