Takeo Hiranuma, minister of economy, trade and industry, said Tuesday he has urged Indonesian ministers to show commitment when seeking assistance from Japan.
"We feel no reluctance in extending aid such as trade insurance and yen loans, if the (Indonesian) government makes a commitment," Hiranuma said when asked by reporters about the meeting.
On Monday, Hiranuma met with Dorodjatun Kuntjoro Djakti, the coordinating minister for economic affairs, and Laksamana Sukardi, minister of revenues and state companies.
The Indonesian ministers reassured Hiranuma that Jakarta and Japanese trading house Marubeni Corp. are about to finalize a debt-restructuring scheme for a loss-making petrochemical project in which Marubeni has a stake, a ministry official said.
