Farmers marched on the government for a second day Wednesday in central Tokyo, calling for more efforts to revive beef consumption, which has been crippled by the outbreak of mad cow disease and a beef-labeling fraud by Snow Brand Foods Co.
More than 100 livestock farmers from Kumamoto Prefecture took part in the demonstration, which went to the Diet building, the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry, and the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry.
On Tuesday, the farmers visited the headquarters of Snow Brand Foods in Tokyo's Chuo Ward and handed over a letter of protest.
