The e-symposium on conflict prevention entered its second day Thursday, with panelists concluding that peaceful resolutions to conflicts require a long-term view.
The symposium, cosponsored by The Japan Times and the Japan Center for Preventive Diplomacy, is being held online until Feb. 14.
Responding to presentations made during the first day of the symposium, panelists also elaborated on other aspects of conflict prevention. According to Dr. Kevin Clements, secretary general of International Alert, "There are absolutely no secure states (any longer) and the pursuit of such security is an illusion."
