A Tokyo Metropolitan Government study has found that about 37,000 crows are living in the area, and local officials are taking stronger measures to address public complaints about their growing numbers.
The study, released earlier this week, was conducted recently over a period of about one month and is the first by the metropolitan government.
A similar study carried out in 1999 by the National Science Museum's Institute for Nature Study put the number of crows in Tokyo's 23 wards at around 21,000.
