Farm minister Tsutomu Takebe said Thursday he is considering filing a criminal complaint against Snow Brand Food Co. with investigative authorities.
The company admitted Wednesday that it deliberately relabeled Australian beef as domestic produce in an attempt to receive a government mad cow subsidy.
Takebe, who heads the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry, made the comment before the Lower House Budget Committee.
