TV personality Sachiyo Nomura, indicted in December for alleged tax evasion, has filed a revised income report with the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau, sources said Thursday.
In the revised filing, Nomura reported earnings of about 800 million yen in the four years to 2000, the sources said. She would now have to pay about 500 million yen, which includes 300 million yen in income tax plus late taxes and penalties.
On Dec. 26, the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor's Office indicted Nomura, 69, wife of former Hanshin Tigers manager Katsuya Nomura, on charges of failing to declare some 570 million yen in personal income and company revenues in the 1990s, thereby evading about 210 million yen in income taxes. The Tokyo District Court released her from custody Dec. 27 on 50 million yen bail. Her first session in court is scheduled for March 19.
