The Bank of Japan left its assessment of the nation's economy unchanged in its January economic and financial report, saying it continues to worsen.
"Japan's economy is deteriorating broadly, as private consumption is weakening in addition to a decline in exports and business fixed investment," the central bank said in the report released Thursday, using exactly the same wording as that in the December report.
The BOJ has downgraded its economic assessment for seven consecutive months to December.
