S&B Foods Inc. and House Foods Corp. have reached an out-of-court settlement in a suit over similar package designs used for their curry products, S&B said Wednesday.

Under the settlement reached Tuesday, S&B agreed to change the package design of one of its products that House Foods claimed is almost identical to a design used for one of its brands, the company said in a news release.

House Foods accused S&B of violating the Unfair Competition Prevention Law in a suit lodged May 31. The products cited in the suit were S&B's Torokeru Curry and House Foods' Kokumaro Curry.

S&B said it will halt shipments of Torokeru Curry with the current package design at the end of February.

House Foods agreed to S&B's sales of the product in a new package, it said.
