Horses, once essential for farming and transport, have all but disappeared from modern Japan -- except to fuel our sense of competition at the track.
The JRA Racing Museum, nestled within the Tokyo Race Course premises in Fuchu, western Tokyo, aims to help deepen the understanding of the history between horses and people around the globe, according to curator Fumihiko Murai.
"The link between horses and mankind has always had a strong influence on cultures," he says.
