Compiled from wire reports JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri on Saturday embraced Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's vision of cooperation linking Northeast and Southeast Asian countries.
"I welcome the prime minister's new idea to establish relations and cooperation in the framework of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) plus three (Japan, China and South Korea)," Megawati said after a meeting with Koizumi at Merdeka Palace.
Koizumi met with Megawati shortly after arriving in the Indonesian capital, the fourth leg of his five-nation Southeast Asia tour.
