Bank of Japan Gov. Masaru Hayami has little more than a year left in his term, but speculation is already brewing over who will succeed him.
The 76-year-old Hayami will end his five-year term as head of the central bank in March 2003.
Hayami, who recently said he will do his best to revive the economy and dispel financial uncertainties, is expected to serve out his term.
