The Imperial Household Agency on Monday released eight poems in the traditional Japanese "waka" form written by Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko in 2001.
Five were written by the Emperor and three by the Empress. Each composed one about Afghanistan.
The Emperor composed the following poem under the title "Afghanistan becomes a War Theater."
