Ishikawa Bank on Friday filed for insolvency proceedings with the Financial Services Agency under the Deposit Insurance Law after its efforts to rehabilitate itself failed.
The second-tier regional bank's action was endorsed by the board of directors earlier in the day, bank officials said.
Deposits at the bank, based in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, will be fully protected under the state-backed deposit insurance system.
