Alleged tax evader Sachiyo Nomura, a TV personality and wife of former Hanshin Tigers manager Katsuya Nomura, was released from custody Thursday on 50 million yen bail, according to the Tokyo District Court.
Nomura, 69, was indicted Wednesday by the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of failing to declare more than 560 million yen in personal income and company revenues in the 1990s, thereby evading more than 200 million yen in taxes.
She is accused of failing to report 380 million yen in corporate income, evading 128 million yen in corporate tax over three years starting in 1997 by understating profits with fake receipts and remuneration payments at two companies she runs.
Nomura also allegedly hid 140 million yen in personal income, thereby evading 64 million yen in taxes over the three-year period, and failing to declare 45 million yen of her husband's income, evading 20 million yen in taxes.
