Refugees in danger of persecution, or migrants seeking work and wealth?
The Justice Ministry determined in November that nine Afghan asylum-seekers claiming to have been persecuted by the Taliban regime that until recently ruled Afghanistan were the latter; the Afghans claim the decision is wrong and have filed appeals.
The nine claim the decision could be the difference between life and death, adding that, as ethnic minorities, they face persecution at home despite the change of power in Kabul.
