Failed supermarket chain Mycal Corp. has decided not to pay a winter bonus this year, scrapping a plan to pay a small bonus to its 7,200 employees, company officials said Wednesday.
The company has notified its workers of the decision, the officials said.
Mycal had planned to pay a winter bonus equal to one month's wages next Monday, but the administrator of its rehabilitation program ruled that a bankrupt company could not pay such money, the officials said.
In mid-September, Mycal applied for protection from creditors and has been rehabilitating with the aid of retailer Aeon Co.
