The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 5.4 percent in October, hitting a record high as more people lost jobs due to corporate restructuring, the government said Friday.
The jobless rate in September held the previous record at 5.3 percent.
Similar to September, male full-time workers were particularly hard hit, with the unemployment rate for men climbing 0.4 percentage point in October to a record 5.8 percent, the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications said in a preliminary report.
