The Foreign Ministry will dismiss two noncareer diplomats on disciplinary grounds for diverting public funds for personal use, ministry sources said Wednesday.
Both employees are stationed overseas and were found to have together misused around 4 million yen, the sources said.
After obtaining approval from Foreign Minister Makiko Tanaka, the punishments will be outlined in a final report the ministry plans to release today on an in-house investigation of a slush-fund scandal involving ministry employees, they said.
