Young people in Japan are more interested in having a good time than in seeking a better society, according to a government survey released Thursday. They are also overwhelmingly dissatisfied with Japanese society and have little interest in making a contribution to it.
Asked to pick from a selection of responses on what they want from life, 27.3 percent, the largest proportion of the respondents aged 15 to 17, chose "I want to live each day happily."
The option, "I want to cherish affection with people around me" was chosen by 26.3 percent of respondents aged 18 to 21 and by 30.7 percent of those aged 22 to 24.
