OSAKA -- Two men fired shots and stole around 5.2 million yen Wednesday from a bank here in Nishi Ward, police said.

Police said they are searching for the gunmen following the 2:20 p.m. robbery at the Horie branch of Taisho Bank, an Osaka-based regional bank.

No one was injured, they added.

Each gunman fired a shot at the ceiling before forcing a bank teller to put cash into a bag, investigators said, adding that the men fled southward in a car.

The vehicle, stolen earlier this month in the city of Suita, Osaka Prefecture, was found abandoned some 100 meters from the site, where the men were seen changing cars, according to police.

One of the handguns is believed to be a revolver and the other an automatic.

The bank is on the first floor of an apartment building, in an area with many offices and residential buildings.
