Takashi Imai, chairman of the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren), on Monday received the annual Zaikai Prize, awarded by the publisher of the business magazine Zaikai.
Imai was awarded the prize for his leadership in promoting the country's structural reforms, the publisher said.
Imai has played an important role in the merger between Keidanren and the Japan Federation of Employers' Associations, scheduled for May, and has advocated even painful structural reforms amid the prolonged economic slump, the prize's organizers noted.
Shigeo Nagashima, former manager of the Yomiuri Giants, was awarded the Special Prize for his contribution to Japanese professional baseball.
