The Yokohama Association for International Communication and Exchanges (YOKE) will hold a fair to introduce organizations involved in international cooperation on Nov. 10 and 11 at Sangyo Boeki Center Bldg. in the city's Naka Ward.

Ninety nonprofit organizations will provide information on their activities at booths during the Yokohama Festival for International Cooperation 2001.

The weekend event also features the Fair Trade Market, which offers foods and handcrafts from Africa, Asia, and South America, performances of world music and dance and 25 seminars and workshops on such issues as the environment, child welfare, refugees, culture and education.

Center accepting donations for Afghan refugees

The Japan International Volunteer Center is accepting donations to provide refugees and evacuees in Afghanistan with medical supplies and food through nongovernmental organizations.

Donations can be made to postal transfer account No. 00190-9-27495, with "support to Afghanistan" written on the communication space of the transfer account sheet. Donations can also be made online through the center's Web site, www.jca.apc.org/jvc
