Toshiba Corp. and NEC Corp. on Friday reported consolidated net losses for the first half of fiscal 2001, hit by the global slump in information technology and the worldwide economic slowdown.
For the April-September period, Toshiba posted consolidated net losses of 123.14 billion yen, compared with consolidated net profits of 53.9 billion yen during the same period last year.
The consumer electronics maker also reported consolidated pretax losses of 196.55 billion yen, down from consolidated pretax profits of 106.21 billion yen a year earlier.
