Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. unveiled on Thursday a reform program to cope with recent changes in the telecommunications industry and revised downward its sales projection from 12.1 trillion yen to 11.94 trillion yen for this business year.
The holding company of the NTT group, however, remained ambiguous on whether it will reduce stakes in cellular unit NTT DoCoMo Inc. and long-distance firm NTT Communications Corp., the two most profitable companies in the NTT group.
The plan says that the company will "fully respect the business management independence" of the companies, leaving open the possibility of reducing its stake in the future.
