A 40-year-old Chinese man has been arrested on suspicion of acting as a go-between for Chinese prostitutes and Tokyo clubs offering their services, in violation of the country's antiprostitution law, police said Monday.
Pan Jung-chung, a resident of Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward who hails from Taiwan, was arrested along with 10 others, including a female Chinese manager connected with two foreign prostitution clubs in Shinjuku's Kabukicho entertainment district.
The 10 suspects excluding Pan were arrested on suspicion of violating the same antiprostitution law in addition to the Immigration Control and Refugee Registration Act, the police said.
The two foreign prostitution clubs in Kabukicho generated combined monthly sales of about 26 million yen, with the Chinese hostesses charging each client between 20,000 yen and 40,000 yen, they added.
The police also said they believe Pan introduced Chinese prostitutes to about 20 clubs in all.
