OSAKA -- Antismoking gum that can be obtained without a prescription has debuted on the domestic market, giving smokers a chance to kick their habit via over-the-counter medicinal supplements.
Although similar gum products and nicotine patches have been available in Japan for some time, they require a doctor's prescription to obtain them.
Takeda Chemical Industries Ltd., which began selling antismoking gum in September, said sales have been good thus far.
