Aki Ito has no regrets about moving from a Japanese elementary school to Nishimachi International School in Minato Ward, Tokyo, a few years ago.
The 14-year-old returnee from the United States said the Nishimachi school broadens her views, especially in social studies class.
"The whole environment here makes me try hard at everything," whereas at the Japanese school, emphasis was placed on every student reaching the same level, she said.
