The Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry will turn down a request by FedEx Corp. of the United States to continue cargo flights between Narita and Sendai airports, after its rights expire later this month, a ministry source said Friday.
The ministry says the company is under-using the route and is merely trying to protect its slot at crowded Narita airport, the source said.
The decision indicates the government is taking a tough stance in its ongoing aviation talks with the U.S.
