Despite the massive losses in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, the incident has provided new opportunities for nations to work together to create a world free from terror, said Howard Baker, the U.S. ambassador to Japan.
Baker also expressed gratitude for the various forms of support that Japan has extended to the U.S. since the devastating attacks -- ranging from the government's cooperation in the U.S.-led campaign against terrorism to the expressions of sympathy by Japanese citizens for the victims.
