Former Afghan Ambassador to Japan Hassani Mohammad Asif says his greatest worry as U.S.-led forces pound his native land is that he and his family will be left stateless.
In a recent interview with Kyodo News, Asif, 51, who served as envoy to Japan under ousted President Burhanuddin Rabbani from 1992 before the Taliban took over Afghanistan, said he feels distraught whenever his children ask him about their nationality.
