All Nippon Airways Co. said Tuesday it will cut 20 percent of its flights to the United States in November.
The reduction to 44 from the initially planned 53 comes in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in the United States, the company said.
ANA had planned seven direct Narita-Washington flights a week and another seven between Narita and Chicago for November.
The airline will consolidate the flights into a single daily service linking Narita, Chicago and Washington, and then back to Chicago and Narita.
ANA will also scale down operations between the Kansai International Airport and Guam from nine flights a week to seven.
Japan Airlines Co. has already announced it will reduce 20 percent of its flights between Japan and the United States.
