Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi expressed full support Monday for U.S. and British military action against targets in Afghanistan, saying Japan will do everything it can to help.
"Japan strongly supports this U.S. and British action," Koizumi said at a news conference.
He said U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell called him to give advance notice of the strikes. Koizumi later also spoke with U.S. President George W. Bush.
