Senior ruling coalition officials agreed Sunday to consider revising a bill on the dispatch of Self-Defense Forces to support expected U.S.-led antiterrorism operations to accommodate an opposition demand that the Diet approve any dispatch, coalition sources said.

The officials agreed to consider revising the bill submitted Friday so that the government would have to receive Diet approval of the government's basic plan for dispatch of the SDF instead of simply reporting the plan to the Diet, the sources said.

The coalition is expected to agree to the amendment in upcoming talks with the main opposition Democratic Party of Japan, they said.
