At least $31.79 million has so far been donated by 140 Japanese firms to various relief fund groups to aid survivors of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on New York's World Trade Center and the Pentagon, according to the Keizai Koho Center, the public relations arm of the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren).

In addition to the money, many more companies have sent relief goods, including their own products, and provided volunteer services, including blood donations, according to a Keizai Koho Center survey conducted between Sept. 19 and 27.

Survey questionnaires were sent to 1,191 companies and industry organizations belonging to Keidanren and Keizai Koho Center. As of Monday, 186 companies and four organizations had replied.
