The upcoming Tokyo Motor Show will refrain from holding an opening ceremony or reception on Oct. 26 to express its sorrow for the victims of the recent terrorist attacks in the United States, its organizer said Tuesday.
Japan Motor Industrial Federation Chairman Hiroshi Okuda said in a release, "I would like to express my deepest sympathy and sincere prayers for the victims and the bereaved of the recent tragic incidents in the U.S."
The ceremony and reception were planned for the day before the event opens to the public at the exhibition site Makuhari Messe in Chiba, east of Tokyo. The Motor Show will continue until Nov. 7.
The motor show will host 272 makers from 13 countries.
