The Tokyo Motor Show will be held in late October as scheduled despite the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in the United States, organizers said Thursday.
The Japan Motor Industrial Federation said all participating overseas automakers are ready to take part in the show.
It said, however, that it is considering whether certain ceremonies should be held; the opening ceremony of a motor show in Frankfurt was canceled due to fears over possible terrorist attacks.
The federation also said it will consult with police over protection for the exhibition site, Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture.
Earlier in the day, Hiroshi Okuda, chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, had mentioned the possibility of canceling the motor show.
