Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. said Monday it will begin marketing two high-speed digital still cameras on Oct. 27, the first products under an alliance with Leica Camera AG of Germany.
The Lumix DMC-LC5 is equipped with Leica's DC Vario-Summicron lens and can shoot up to eight frames per second. The DMC-F7, with Leica's DC Vario-Elmarit lens, can take up to five frames per second.
Matsushita said it is not suggesting a retail price for the two cameras and that it will manufacture 2,000 DMC-LC5 units and 10,000 DMC-F7 units a month.
The two firms announced the digital camera alliance in July.
